In comparison to the average wool blanket these cost very little are much easier to maintain. They do not require dry cleaning but can be thrown in the washing machine. They do not require being hung to dry; a tumble in the dryer will be just fine for them. A fleece blanket can come in any size to match your needs.

Before you decide if you want to use a fleece blanket you may want to know a little more about it. To begin with fleece is a man made material that is made by and large from polyester. It can be made of a combination of that with cotton or acrylic. One side is smooth and the other is fluffy. This kind of material has some water resistant properties. It is considered to be good at insulating which is why it is so good at keeping a person warm when they use a fleece blanket.

Fleece is used to make many other things instead of just blankets. It is used for hats, gloves, hooded sweatshirts, children’s sleepers or pants. If it is going to be used as a coat or jacket it usually has some type of outer layer to protect against the wind.

If you want you can make your own fleece blanket and so only spend half of what you might to buy a manufactured one. Go to a fabric store and buy a piece of polar fleece bigger than you need so you will be able to finish the edge nicely. Then make sure the edges look clean, that nothing is ragged looking. After you have done that you need to decide how you want to edge it. You can hem it all around with a half an inch hem or you can use a blanket stitch to finish the outer edge. If neither of those appeal you can just serge the edge. No matter which you choose you’ll have a nice fleece blanket to keep you warm.
